Desexing

Getting your pet desexed (neutered or spayed) is essential to their health. All Greencross Vets facilities are completely sterile and use the latest in surgical equipment.

Vaccinations

Prevention is the best medicine. Kitten and puppy vaccinations (injections) and adult pet vaccinations prevent disease. Get your pet’s vaccinations up-to-date.

Heartworm Prevention

Heartworm can be hard to detect, but it needn’t be hard to prevent. Greencross Vets recommends year round heartworm prevention. Ask your vet about prevention today.

Dentistry

Greencross Vets offer a range of dentistry services like cat and dog teeth cleaning. Consider us your pet’s veterinarian and dentist combined.

Nisha Patel

Nisha Patel

Veterinary Director

Nisha graduated from the University of Sydney in 2016 and moved down to Melbourne to start work at an advanced GP and rehabilitation clinic. This practice triggered a passion for canine rehabilitation and musculoskeletal disease in both dogs and cats. She recently became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner through a course at the University of Tennesee, and is trained in performing PennHIP x-rays.
Outside of work Nisha enjoys hiking, staying fit, exploring new areas in Melbourne and reading. She does not currently have any pets but is excited for the day that her life can accommodate a dog (or multiple).
Nisha joined the Greencross team in 2022 and is looking forward to working with the community to improve the health of their pets.

Kaitlyn Sammut

Veterinary Nurse

Kaitlyn began her time at Greencross in August 2022 and since then has been working casually between four separate clinics. She has had a love for animals of all shapes and sizes since she was a young girl and grew up surrounded by dogs, birds, fish and insects.

Kaitlyn plans to move to a permanent role and will soon be commencing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. She takes pride in her ability to communicate with clients in stressful and high-pressure circumstances and is passionate about animal rescue and recovery.

In her home life, Kaitlyn lives with two very cheeky rescue cats, Nardo and Beanie, and has a love for all things hands-on including cooking, fishing, camping and arts and craft.

Veterinary Nurse

Mikayla has grown up with animals her whole life, ranging from dogs and cats to ducks and turtles. She has always had a love for animals and has grown up very close to the vet nursing field. She began working for Greencross Vet in 2022 and has loved it since. She is passionate about patient welfare, as well as delivering fantastic customer service.

Mikayla is currently studying a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Human Resource Management, and aims to work in HR in the future. In her free time, Mikayla loves to cook, make candles, and spend time with family and friends. She loves her German shepherd, Hachi, and Jack Russell x Beagle, Alvin. She hopes to adopt more pets in the future.

Dr Avanti Caldera

Veterinarian

Avanti graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2016, achieving her lifelong dream of becoming a vet. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine in particular canine and feline internal medicine, geriatric pet health and palliative care. Outside of work Avanti enjoys spending time outdoors, gardening and cooking but most of all enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is also kept busy with her three cheeky cats and two dogs. Avanti joined the team at Greencross Vets Craigieburn in 2021 and is looking forward to meeting all the local clients and their furry friends.

Emily had always wanted to do something with animals to help and support them and started her veterinary nursing journey at the age of 16.

She holds a certificate II in animal studies and a certificate of attainment in dog behaviour and training. Emily is a studying veterinary nurse. Emily’s always had a passion for helping animals great and small and has interest in veterinary nursing is emergency, neonate care and surgery.

Outside of work and study Emily enjoys spending time with her jack Russell Terrier Lexi & competing in agility. At the stables doing horse riding. And going to the Northern country parts of Victoria.

Nekitta Mutimer

Veterinary Nurse

Nekitta joined the team via the Greencross Internship program back in November 2020. Since then Nekitta has become a fulltime member of our team and is currently studying her Certificate IV in Veterinary nursing. Over her time with us Nekitta has taken an interest in Wildlife and exotic species as well as creating a positive experience for pet euthanasia.
Nekitta has had exposure to a variety of animals throughout her life and currently
in her own mini zoo has two dogs, one Lorikeet, one Blue Tongue Lizard and one cat. Nekitta is excited and passionate for what is to come as she moves into her studies for Certificate IV and her Vet Nursing career.

Head Veterinary Nurse

Jess has been with Greencross Vets since 2019, working at different clinics over the years before taking on the Head Veterinary Nurse role at Craigieburn in mid-2022. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing but is most passionate about surgery, nutrition and patient care. Having completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing 2021, Jess’ goal is to become an Emergency and Critical Care Nurse in the future as she has always had an interest in helping patients in a critical time of need and also hopes to work closer with our Australian native wildlife in the future. Jess is kept bust at home with three pets, a Maltese X Silky Terrier named Hanna and two rescue cats named Snowy and Luna.
