Here at Moorooka Veterinary Surgery we are a team of 3 fantastic vets and 6 lovely nurses, all of whom are very excited to meet you. The clinic is growing so we are looking for an enthusiastic addition to our team. Our Vet Director and Vet Associates have a combined experience of 60 years, and our junior and senior nurses are all knowledgeable, capable and caring. We have many loyal customers and we take great pride in providing gold standard care, for every pet that comes through our doors.

Last year our clinic was accredited as a Stress-Free Pets clinic, with all our staff completing the training. We also have a designated cat consult room to aid in keeping our cats as relaxed as possible. There are four consultation rooms in total: our cat consult room, large dog consult room and two others of various sizes.

We also have some cool gadgets for you to play with such as digital radiographs, handheld dental x-ray unit, vet-tome dental machine, in-house haematology and ultrasound machine.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Delivering personalised and dedicated client care to all patients and owners;
  • Caring, handling and cleaning all animals;

  • Undertaking general nursing tasks, including pre and post-operative care, animal pathology and emergency and critical care;
  • Performing minor procedures when required;
  • Reception duties including being the first point of contact for clients, handling client enquiries in person and over the phone, scheduling appointments, managing client accounts, admitting and discharging patients.
  • Taking part in the clinic’s weekend roster. This will involve working 1 in 4 full weekends.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualities and expertise:

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing;
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Veterinary Nurse;
  • Excellent animal handling skills;
  • An extensive knowledge and understanding of veterinary nursing procedures;
  • Exceptional organisation, communication and customer service skills;
  • Flexible and adaptable within a team environment;
  • Knowledge of RX Works ideal but not essential.
