Veterinary Nurse – Oncology Department

Dandenong, Victoria

Have you been looking for something different?

Do you genuinely like talking to clients and forming ongoing relationships with them?

Do you feel like you wish you could do more for animals with cancer?

Oncology might be for you!

We have an opening in our growing oncology department for a veterinary nurse. We are a small but close-knit team, who value our somewhat more predictable schedule and the sanctuary of our dedicated oncology space.

The Veterinary Referral Hospital in Melbourne’s south-east provides comprehensive patient care from emergency and critical care to specialist surgery, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, and diagnostic imaging. We practice the highest standards of care whilst remaining a friendly and relaxed clinic. Although each department encompasses their own team, collaborative care is what brings our hospital together, striving for optimal patient outcomes.

The role will be rostered primarily in the oncology department with the opportunity to work shifts in other departments. Full- or part-time roles will be considered. It will include all aspects of nursing from admissions to procedures, care of hospitalised patients, through to recovery and discharge. In oncology, the most common procedures we do are imaging (ultrasound, radiographs, and CT), and the role will also include handling and administration of chemotherapy drugs.

Our offer to you

• The opportunity to expand your clinical skills in a supportive, exciting and dynamic environment
• A challenging and rewarding position – feel good about what you do!
• Support both professionally and personally with proactive interaction with colleagues and the support team

About you

• A higher level of competency in all areas of Veterinary Nursing
• Qualifications as a Veterinary Nurse, minimum Certificate IV or equivalent
• Experience in a Referral Hospital will be highly regarded but is not mandatory
• A current radiation licence, or the ability to obtain prior to starting
• Exceptional organisation and communication skills
• A flexible, adaptable and a positive ‘can do’ attitude!
