An opportunity for an experienced Vet Nurse, with an interest in Small Animal Medicine, to join our Essendon team on a part-time basis.

• Certificate IV – Veterinary Nursing
• Varied weekday hours – depending on the need of the role

The Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) Essendon Fields is a 24 hour per day, 7 days a week hospital with a dedicated team working across ECC, internal medicine and surgery. We aim to provide a responsive, comprehensive emergency and referral service to Victorian veterinarians, their clients and their patients.

About Your Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will work alongside three Medicine Specialists and would need to possess the following skills and abilities as a minimum:

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
• 3-4 years of experience, preferably in medicine or specialist/referral environment
• Genuine interest in Small Animal Medicine
• Underpinning knowledge of medical diseases and conditions
• Anaesthetic monitoring experience and skills
• Comfortable assisting with chemotherapy treatment, CT scan and MRIs
• Exceptional small animal handling abilities
• Confidence in communicating with clients including discussions regarding their pets condition, estimates, anaesthetic risks etc.
• Consistently demonstrates high quality patient care
• Knowledge of Rx works / Smart flow will be highly regarded (but not essential)

This is a great opportunity for an experienced nurse to demonstrate and expand on their existing skills and knowledge. The successful candidate will be exposed to a varied and interesting caseload, making a difference to highly critical patients. The team is friendly and supportive; the hospital has state-of-the-art facilities; pay is commensurate to experience and ongoing training is encouraged.
