Vet Nurse Veterinary Referral Hospital logo

Dandenong, Victoria

The Veterinary Referral Hospital in Melbourne’s South East provides comprehensive patient care from Emergency and Critical Care to Specialist Surgery, Medicine, Neurology, Oncology and Diagnostic Imaging. We practice the highest standards of care whilst remaining a friendly and relaxed clinic.

An opportunity has arisen to join our Medicine team as we grow and develop more capabilities.

In the medicine department you have opportunities to be involved in all aspects of nursing

– Care of hospitalised patients

– Assisting with procedures such as endoscopy, interventional radiology, stent placement, CT & MRI

– Developing long term relationships with clients through outpatient care

To quote one of our current nurses:

“In medicine, we often nurse critical patients. We have good nurse to patient ratios, so that we can deliver exceptional patient care. We are lucky that we have the time to deeply connect to our patients. They become long term clients who we enjoy seeing again and again which is very rewarding. We also get the time to advance our skills with nurse training provided by our department. We see a bit of everything which is rewarding and never boring! We get a mix of hospital care and anaesthesia and have the luxury of anaesthesia specialists to help during tough anaesthetics”

Our offer to you:

· The opportunity to expand your clinical skills in a supportive, exciting and dynamic environment

· Support both professionally and personally from colleagues and the support team

· The potential to work either a 5 or 4 day weekly roster.

· A generous salary commensurate with experience

What you will bring:

· A high level of competency in all areas of Veterinary Nursing

· Qualifications as a Veterinary Nurse, minimum Certificate IV or equivalent

· Experience in a Referral Hospital will be highly regarded

· A current radiation licence, or the ability to obtain prior to starting

· Exceptional organisation and communication skills

· A flexible, adaptable and a positive ‘can do’ attitude!

Experience with advanced imaging techniques such as CT, Endoscopy and Fluoroscopy, as well as nursing patients with high needs will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
