Here at Greencross Vets Brinsmead we are a caring, compassionate and friendly team. We endeavour to keep patients our priority by providing informative scientific veterinary care in a comfortable stress free environment.

About the Clinic

Brinsmead Veterinary Surgery has been providing excellence in veterinary surgery and medicine since 1997 when Dr Max Fargher established the clinic, which is well equipped for dentistry, surgery and intensive animal care.

We offer a comprehensive range of professional veterinary services to cater for all your pet needs, ranging from preventative health care to weight loss programs through to surgery and diagnostic medicine.

Our friendly team cater primarily to dogs and cats, also caring for birds, mice and guinea pigs. The practice currently employs four veterinarians, eight veterinary nurses and a receptionist to care for your pet.

Greencross Vets Brinsmead offer a comprehensive range of professional veterinary services to cater for all your pet care needs utilising the latest diagnostic equipment.

Desexing

Getting your pet desexed (neutered or spayed) is essential to their health. All Greencross Vets facilities are completely sterile and use the latest in surgical equipment.

Vaccinations

Prevention is the best medicine. Kitten and puppy vaccinations (injections) and adult pet vaccinations prevent disease. Get your pet’s vaccinations up-to-date.

Heartworm Prevention

Heartworm can be hard to detect, but it needn’t be hard to prevent. Greencross Vets recommends year round heartworm prevention. Ask your vet about prevention today.

Dentistry

Greencross Vets offer a range of dentistry services like cat and dog teeth cleaning. Consider us your pet’s veterinarian and dentist combined.

X-ray/Radiology

Greencross Vets clinics are equipped with high-quality radiograph equipment including X-ray machines, automatic processors, and X-ray view equipment.

Clinical Pathology

Clinical pathology allows our vets to analyse and diagnose health conditions. Common laboratory tests include blood tests, urinalysis, faecal tests and biopsy examination.

Laboratory Testing

The latest in-house laboratory equipment allows our vets to perform a range of diagnostic tests to achieve accurate, rapid diagnosis of your pets’ health status.

Meet The Team

Sarah Swaffer

Sarah Swaffer

Sarah started with us in April 2013. Sarah has recently taken over the role as a puppy preschool trainer and is also our marketing guru.You might be able to find her smiling face at the front desk in both our Brinsmead and Redlynch Central clinics. Sarah is the proud mum of Tazer the blue Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Ivee the Blue American Staffy.

Sarah McMahon

Sarah McMahon

Sarah started with us in February 2015 as a work experience student studying her Cert IV in Veterinary nursing. By July she became a permanent part of the team as a Vet Nurse as she continues her studies. Sarah is the proud Mum of her dogs Chillie, Rufus and Dolly, Mr Puss Puss the Cat and Romeo the horse. Sarah is an avid horse lover and spends all of her spare time with her horses and animals. She also enjoys travelling and visiting her home country of Canada.

Dr Leo Lee

Dr Leo Lee

Dr Leo is originally from New Zealand, having graduated from Massey University alongside Dr. Kevin. Seeking an adventure, he has ended up in Cairns to start off his career as a Vet. Back home in New Zealand, Leo owned a Blue Tongue Skink. Leo has a special interest in animal (and human) nutrition and imaging. Leo is hoping to pursue his hobbies of tennis, fishing, music and diving- without succumbing to our North Queensland heat!

Dr Kevin Dalton

Dr Kevin Dalton

Dr Kevin is all the way from Aotearoa, the land of the Long White (but usually grey) cloud, where he completed his Bachelor of Veterinary Science at Massey University, New Zealand. He came to Australia in search of adventure, a tropical climate, stunning landscapes and a supportive team to guide him through the beginning of his Veterinary career. In his spare time, Kevin is excited to explore Far North Queensland’s reefs, beaches and rainforests. Kevin’s parents have replaced him with their own furry children, two Cavoodles which Kevin misses dearly.

Caroline Stillman

Caroline Stillman

Caroline is a receptionist and trainee Veterinary Nurse. She came to join the Greencross team April 2015 she is currently studying for the Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing. She is originally from the Isle Of Wight but before coming to Australia in 2015 she lived and worked in the British Virgin Islands were she was teaching Scuba Diving and was involved with various reef and marine life projects. She is extremely passionate about all animals large and small including Horses and is often seen at the Cairns RSPCA were she helps with Fostering kittens helping them to have a better start in life so they may find their forever home. Caroline is a Mum to two children she has a ginger cat named Coda and 5 Guinea Pigs.

Dr Catherine Rowley-Neale

Dr Catherine Rowley-Neale

Dr Catherine is originally from Manchester, England. She qualified from Liverpool University in 2010, after qualifying she worked in mixed practice before concentrating on small animals where she has grown a particular interest in feline medicine and cardiology. She is currently studying an Emergency Medicine course run by Sydney University, to make sure that your pets receive the best care especially during after hours. Catherine loves keeping active, being a keen scuba diver and private pilot.

Dr Max Fargher BVSc

Dr Max Fargher BVSc

Max graduated from the University of Queensland in 1990. His professional interests include dermatology, dentistry and orthopaedic surgery. Personal interests – golf, rugby union, family and exercising his dog: Taco the Chihuahua.

Brittney

Brittney

Brittney is a new member to our staff and is currently studying het cert 4 in veterinary nursing. All of her life she has been passionate about animals, and animal care. She lives with 3 loving kittens and one naughty little puppy.

Courtney Ross

Courtney Ross

Courtney started with us in December 2014. Courtney has 2 dogs, a quiet Ball Arab called Gloria and a naughty Cattle dog X called Spoke. She also is known as the clinic crazy cat lady as she likes rescuing every stray cat that comes into our care. In her spare time Courtney loves horse riding and spending time with all of her babies.

Helen Holloway

Helen Holloway

Originally from Manchester, England. Completed Cert IV certificate in Dec 2014 and always looking to undertake extra courses when they become available. Adopted a cat called Toby who came into the clinic as a stray and stole my heart! Also own 2 dogs called Pippa & Bella and a horse named Rio. I’m an avid horse lover at heart and spend all my spare time with my horse 🙂

Kylie Frazer

Kylie Frazer

Kylie has been working at the Greencross Brinsmead Veterinary Surgery for several years and has completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. She is the proud owner of an adorable chocolate Labrador called Lucy (pictured). In 2014, Kylie also adopted a cheeky ginger domestic short hair cat called Matheus and a cute tabby domestic shorthair called Spartacus who both arrived at the clinic as a strays.
