At the end of 2016 I started my traineeship through Greencross Vets Aitkenvale completing my Certificate II in Animal Studies in 2017. I chose to do veterinary nursing as my career path as growing up I always loved animals and had a passion for caring for them.
After completing my Certificate II, I had a break for a year as I was studying in Year 12. After graduating I took the opportunity to follow my passion and continue veterinary nursing with Greencross Vets and I love it.
Vet Nursing for me is just not a job but it is also something that I am very passionate about and love doing.
I started my career in 2014 when I completed my Certificate II in Animal Studies (Veterinary Nursing). I then moved to Brisbane and had some time off from vet nursing, I moved to Sydney and completed my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing working in a busy Eastern Suburbs Veterinary Hospital with a large surgical and medical case load. I finished my studies and qualified in September 2019 and opted to move home to Townsville to continue my veterinary adventure.

Leah was born and grew up in Somerset (South West), England before graduating from The Royal Dick Vet College, Edinburgh in 1997. After working in a rural practice for five years, Leah decided that a holiday was in order and spent 12 months working her way around the West coast of Australia. Having enjoyed this experience immensely, Leah decided to make the move permanent in 2003 and has been living in Townsville ever since. Leah enjoys all aspects of Veterinary work but especially enjoys surgery, including stifle (knee) repairs, cutaneous reconstruction (skin grafting etc…) and eye repairs of all kinds.
Outside of work Leah enjoys spending time with her cat Halley. She also enjoys photography and white-water kayaking. Her main love though is Mountain Biking and this has taken her to many amazing places geographically and mentally when competing at the Local, State or National level or on charity rides.
Maddison was born and raised in Townsville and throughout her schooling life she frequently moved towns to Innisfail, Cairns, Mount Isa and back to Townsville. Her first veterinary experience was through school work-experience in 2013 with Townsville Vet Clinic for 2 weeks, it was from then on she knew that veterinary nursing was something I really wanted to do.
I finished high school and started studying immediately with Open Colleges. I have now almost completed my Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing qualification and plan to expand my knowledge and studies in the future, especially in the avian field. I gained work placement with JCU veterinary clinic where I got to care for animals such as turtles, pelicans, snakes and bilbies.
I then joined the team at Greencross Vets Riverway, I started working as a placement student in early 2019 and am now employed with such a fantastic supportive team and look forward to further studies alongside the team.
During my days off I like to do my studies, gardening, go fishing and make home décor for my house. I am a very outdoorsy person and like to spend most of my time out in the sun.
Jennifer has been part of the Greencross Vets team for 10 years now, completing both her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and Certificate IV in Frontline Management. Jennifer has recently returned to Townsville with her family after working at Greencross Vets clinic Campbelltown in Sydney.
Jennifer loves helping educate our clients about best care for their pets and brings a caring, compassionate and can-do attitude to the team. At home Jennifer has her hands full with her two sons Riley and Samuel. They enjoy being outdoors and going camping as a family.

I grew up in a small town of Ayr and from a very young age I always wanted to work with animals. I started working in a Veterinary practice as a vet nurse when I left school and worked there for eight years full time and then five years part time.
I moved to Townsville with my husband and two children and started working for a business that specialised in Equine Products. It was seven years later that I decided that I wanted to come back to the where my passion is and that is the veterinary industry. I’m excited to be part of the team at Greencross Vets Aitkenvale and look forward to meeting you and your pets.
I have always been passionate about pets since I started as a School-Based Trainee at the end of 2013. Since completing my Certificate II, I was employed as a Veterinary Nurse and I am now excited to be completing my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing qualification. I love working in the veterinary industry, at times it can be demanding but is also very rewarding. Seeing a sick patient going home healthy and well always puts a smile on your face. I couldn’t imagine life without pets.
I started with Greencross Vets in 2010 as a School-Based Trainee which gave me the opportunity to complete my Certificate II in Animal Studies. I fell in love with veterinary nursing and went on to complete my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
I am very passionate about providing the best level of care for our patients and helping them in every way we can.

I grew up in London and from a young age always loved animals. At school I excelled in science, so it seemed only logical to combine my two loves and become a vet! I studied Veterinary Science at The University of Melbourne and after graduating worked in Mackay, then several locations in the UK and finally Townsville. I have extensive experience in medical case work-up and also love soft tissue surgery.
There are many things that I love about my job. Nurturing staff and empowering their growth is another exciting part of my job. I regularly attend further education courses to ensure we are practicing the very best medicine and surgery. Outside of work I love spending time with family and friends.
