Shannel is studying Cert IV in Vet Nursing and has been a Vet nurse for just over a year. Prior to Vet nursing she volunteered at animal rescues and shelters and loved it! My name is Kahlie Huggard and I love working within the animal industry. You never know what your day is going to entail, which makes being a Veterinary Nurse so rewarding. My favourite animals are goats, as they are full of personality, and always make you laugh!
Katie shares a home with her husband, her rescue Aussie Bulldog called Indi and has also recently added to her clan, adopting the beloved clinic cat Pickles. Her interests include small animal nursing, emergency and native wildlife after completing a recent placement with the Healesville Sanctuary hospital.
Melissa joined the Ashburton team in 2017 and has been a veterinary nurse or practice manager for 18 years. Melissa’s favourite part of the job is helping our clients provide the best care for their pets. Feline medicine and behaviour is also an area Melissa has a keen interest in. Outside of work Melissa can usually be found spending time with her two horses, Hansel and Toby.
Rose has been working in animal welfare since she was 16 and has always had a passion for the best interests of all animals. She has completed numerous qualifications in Veterinary Nursing as well as animal management and prides herself on providing high quality nursing care to all of her patients. Rose has a special interest in animal behaviour and believes that with a little patience and the right approach we can learn to communicate with our pets and achieve their needs. When Rose isn’t busy at the clinic her life is ruled by her own fur family (cats Lucy and Gizmo, and dogs Evee, Sheba, and Toby) and by fostering homeless animals to help them find permanent loving forever homes.
Sam is a qualified veterinary nurse and has been nursing since 2013. She has an interest in small animal medicine and surgical nursing. At the clinic she is known as the “Little Dog Whisperer” and always loves the challenging small dogs that visit the clinic. Danae has been nursing for more than eight years now and was awarded “Outstanding Veterinary Nurse of the Year (2013)” within the Greencross corporation. As her award suggests, and everyday practice demonstrates, Danae places her patients first delivering the best possible care and being of great assistance to the vets, ensuring all procedures run smoothly. She loves interacting with the patients and can often be found sneaking in a cuddle or two. When she is not in the clinic, Danae enjoys travelling and spending time with her family, friends, and furry family which consists of “Oreo” the Great Dane, “Ella” the Boxer x Red Heeler, “Willow” the DLH cat and her, not so furry, Blue Tongue Lizard, “Mr Lizard”.
