Dr Matthew Legg (Dr Matt) grew up in a small town in South Africa. After qualifying in 2011 from the University of Pretoria, Onderstepoort, he started his career as a mixed animal practitioner honing his skills in large animal work, and especially equine work. He then joined a small animal practice in his home town prior to moving to Australia in 2016. Matt moved into Regional Victoria where he joined a mixed animal practice, and helped with the start up of a new clinic. In 2020 he joined the Greencross group and is now the current Vet director in the Craigieburn clinic. In his spare time he enjoys cycling, fishing and the outdoors. He has four pets – 2 rabbits, and 2 cats, along with his wife and two beautiful daughters. His veterinary interests lie in pathology and ophthalmology of small animals, and he has been given the title of the “Bunny Vet” in the practice.
Stefani started with the clinic since opening in 2019 and completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2020.
Growing up, she has always had a passion for animals and wanting to help them in any way she can. Stef has a high interest in surgery and emergency cases.
Outside of work, Stef enjoys any type of outdoor activity – camping and/or at the beach is where you’ll find her most. At home, she lives with her partner and together they have two English Staffies named Bo and Bella, and a cat called Billie.
From a young age, I have always loved animals and had a passion to provide care and love for them. I started working as a school-based trainee with Greencross in Townsville when I was 15years old. Throughout my traineeship, I managed to secure extra weekend shifts to further expand my knowledge and grow as a junior nurse. I also dedicated my time to local rescues and fostered many orphaned kittens until they were fit to find forever homes. After completing high school, I started to study my Certificate IV and completed this in 2016. During this time, I worked as the head-nurse in our first co-location in Townsville before moving to Melbourne in late 2019. Since joining the Craigieburn Team in 2020, I have had the pleasure of working with a great team, continuing with the development of my clinical skills, with hopes of completing my Diploma in the future, and training/supporting new interns with their journey to starting their nursing degree. I live at home with our chocolate Labrador Toby, Stitch our Staffy x, Frankie our Maltese x and Gremlin and Space Captain our two cats. In my spare time you’ll find me studying for my BA at university, spending time with my partner and spending time with my plants.
Nekitta is just beginning her Vet Nursing career and is currently undergoing studies in Certificate II Animal Handling. Nekitta Has had exposure to a variety of animals throughout her life and currently

As well as her dedication to the care of animals Nekitta also spends her free time volunteering for the State Emergency Service serving ad assisting her community.

I joined Greencross Vet in September 2018. I have always had a love for animals great and small for as long as I can remember. I completed my certificate III in Animal studies in 2017 where I spent a lot of my time volunteering at the RSPCA as a shelter attendant, then I went off to complete my Associate Degree in Vet Nursing in 2019. I am kept very busy at home with my 2 dogs, a cat and a turtle. I have an immense interest in surgical nursing and animal welfare and are constantly striving and learning to be the best Vet Nurse that I can be.
I’ve been with Greencross Vets for 2 years before recently moving to the Craigieburn clinic. I have completed my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, I enjoy all aspects of vet nursing but have a passion for patient care and surgery. I have an interest in emergency and critical care and would like to continue further studies in the future. At home, I have a Maltese X at home named Hanna.
