Desexing

Getting your pet desexed (neutered or spayed) is essential to their health. All Greencross Vets facilities are completely sterile and use the latest in surgical equipment.

Vaccinations

Prevention is the best medicine. Kitten and puppy vaccinations (injections) and adult pet vaccinations prevent disease. Get your pet’s vaccinations up-to-date.

Heartworm Prevention

Heartworm can be hard to detect, but it needn’t be hard to prevent. Greencross Vets recommends year round heartworm prevention. Ask your vet about prevention today.

Dr John

Dr John

Veterinary Director
I graduated as a Veterinarian in South Africa in 1995 from the University of Pretoria. Since graduating I have worked in private practice in the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and South Africa. I owned my own practice in Durban, South Africa for 11 years before my family and I immigrated to Australia in 2023 where I joined the team at Greencross Deeragun as Veterinary Director.

I have a love for travel, camping, canoeing, Land Rovers and the outdoors. My family and I are looking forward to the opportunity to explore Australia.

Dr Catherine

Dr Catherine

Catherine was born in Victoria and grew up riding horses and spending most of her time outside.

In 2011, she graduated from her first degree, a Bachelor in Animal and Veterinary Biosciences, before going onto study a Bachelor of Sustainability majoring in Business. Following this, she studied Veterinary Science at James Cook University.

Catherine now resides in Townsville with her husband and two children. In her spare time, she loves to take her children swimming, to the beach and to all the events around Townsville.

Aimee

Aimee

Veterinary Nurse Receptionist
I have worked at Greencross Vets for over 14.5 years, as a Veterinary Nurse, Receptionist, and a Practice Manager. I’m currently working part time as I have just had a baby boy.

I started at Greencross as a School Based Trainee back in 2009. I love working in the Animal Industry as it brings me so much joy helping animals and their owners.

My favourite animal is a goat – I think they are absolutely fabulous pets and are super funny.

My hobbies outside of work are spending time with family, fishing, camping and cleaning.

Alanna Brady

Alanna Brady

Veterinary Nurse

Alanna has lived in Townsville for five years, and is currently studying her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing. Her affection for animals grew from having a menagerie of pets as a kid! As an adult, she moved to Australia from Ireland and worked at wildlife parks, influencing her to choose to work with animals as a full time career. Beginning as a Greencross Vets as an intern through the internship program and went on to complete a Certificate II in Animals Studies. Alanna delights in the opportunity to work with different species, and experiencing something new every day. She also continues as to offer care to wildlife animals and will always have a special affection for Australian birds.

Serena Forrest

Serena Forrest

Veterinary Nurse

In 2015-16, I completed my Certificate II in Animal Studies. After graduating from school, I also completed my Certificate IV in Vet Nursing to become a fully qualified vet nurse. Initially I worked in a part-time capacity at our Deeragun clinic before moving over to Greencross Vets Hyde Park. Now I’ve come back to re-join the team at Deeragun and am very excited!

I have lived in Townsville my whole life and love spending time playing sport and exploring the outdoors; while also enjoying spending time with my cheeky pup Bambi and the naughty kitty-cat Penelope.
