Meet The Team
I started working for Greencross Vets Annandale as a School-Based Trainee in October 2015 where I completed a Certificate II in animals studies which boosted my career into the Veterinary industry. I was offered afternoon and weekend work after I completed my traineeship until I finished high school. Since then I have moved to the clinic Greencross Vets Fairfield where I have gained more experience in nursing and client care. My passion for animals started very young where I decided I wanted to become a Vet at the ripe old age of 10. I was fascinated by animals and knew that wherever my future was headed, there was going to be animals involved. My current future plans are to study Medical Laboratory Science so that I can move into the pathology side of the Veterinary industry. I have 2 little fluff balls, Willow and Chester and also a cockatiel named Nibbles and a Green Cheek Conure named Cheeky. If you can’t find me at the clinic, I will be either studying or hanging out with friends.
Hannah is a young aspiring veterinary nurse who began her career with Greencross as a school based trainee in 2014. Hannah was then employed as a nurse assistant for the Deeragun Team and is now actively studying her certificate 4 in veterinary nursing qualification. Hannah has a strong passion for animals and is dedicated to ensuring their wellbeing is a priority. Hannah has a future goal of travelling to Borneo and doing volunteer work with Orangutans at rescue organizations. Orangutans have been a secret love of Hannah’s since she was a child.
I was born in Mareeba and have lived in Townsville all my life. I started working at Greencross Vets as a school based trainee and completed my cert 2 in Animal Studies in 2008.. My interests are spending time with my lovely family, walking my dogs and going fishing.

Dr Brian Starkey
Born and raised in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, Brian graduated from University of Pretoria (Onderstepoort) in June 1986. After completing two years compulsory national service as a veterinary officer, he worked in a mixed practice for three years before opening his own clinic treating mainly small animals and a few dairy herds. Brian is passionate about improving the welfare of animals and spent a number of years volunteering at the SPCA (Speak, Protect & Care for Animals) charity dedicated to serving and protecting all animals, and ensuring that the protection they have under South African law is upheld and respected. Brian immigrated to Australia in 2002 where he worked in Adelaide before joining the Greencross team in 2004. He is passionate about all aspects of veterinary treatment and medicine, particularly orthopaedic surgery encompassing bones or joint procedures such as fracture repairs, ligament repairs and spinal surgery. When he’s not in clinic, you will find Brian spending time with his wife Lee and two sons.
My love for animals started off when i was young, born into a house full of animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks, birds, dogs and cats. In 2011, I started doing some volunteer work for local animal rescues. This progressed to me taking on fostering mother cats and kittens until they were able to find homes. I started working for Greencross as a school based trainee back in 2012. Throughout the year, I did extra shifts on weekends and school holidays. After completing my cert II, I was offered work every weekend and school holidays until I finished grade 12. I am now looking forward to working as much as possible and hoping to complete my cert IV in vet nursing and further studies. My love for animals doesn’t stop once I leave work. I live at home with my two dogs, Misty the Spoodle and Benji the Fluffy cross breed, four cats, Becky, Boots, Ainslee and Rafael, the four chickens, Bearded Dragons, Blue Tongunes, Monitors, a few snakes and a galah named Reggie. In my spare time I love to dance and spend time with family.
