Our clinic has been established for over 70 years. We have 30 team members and 12 highly skilled veterinarians – with over 100 years of experience between them.

We aim to provide the highest standard of patient care in veterinary prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The health and wellness of your pet is always our first consideration.

We also pride ourselves on exceptional client service, and friendly and helpful advice on all aspects of animal health to make sure that the special member of your family is happy and healthy for a long time.

Our vet clinic and hospital is over 700m2 and is located on the Princes Hwy in Fairy Meadow in between Amber Tiles and the Anglican Church.

Desexing

Getting your pet desexed (neutered or spayed) is essential to their health. All Greencross Vets facilities are completely sterile and use the latest in surgical equipment.

Vaccinations

Prevention is the best medicine. Kitten and puppy vaccinations (injections) and adult pet vaccinations prevent disease. Get your pet’s vaccinations up-to-date.

Heartworm Prevention

Heartworm can be hard to detect, but it needn’t be hard to prevent. Greencross Vets recommends year round heartworm prevention. Ask your vet about prevention today.

Dentistry

Greencross Vets offer a range of dentistry services like cat and dog teeth cleaning. Consider us your pet’s veterinarian and dentist combined.

Grooming

Talita Fernandes

Talita Fernandes

Veterinarian Nurse

Talita is originally from Brazil where she graduated in Veterinary Science, studied acupuncture and also has been working in small animal practice since 2008.
She moved with her husband to Sydney to start a new adventure and found a way to continue work in the field as Veterinary nurse. Talita has always had a special love for all kinds of animals, especially cats, dogs and horses, and feels blessed to be able to embrace this passion in her work.
When she is not at the clinic her and her husband share their home with two lovely cats Chloe and George.

Veterinary Nurse / Receptionist

Fiona joined Greencross in March 2022, as part of our reception team. She is a qualified puppy preschool trainer and has a certificate in nursing. Fiona has lived in the Illawarra for nine years and is originally from Newcastle, she has two dogs at home buddy a border collie and pebbles a foxi x.

Veterinary Nurse

Tracy qualified as a vet nurse in 2020 and started here at Greencross Vets in 2021. She loves all dogs and all creatures great and small!
At home, Tracy is a mum to two humans, a kelpie named Tilly and Betty Crocker, the cockatiel. In her spare time Tracy likes to wind down in nature enjoying bush walks, yoga and kayaking with her husband, kids and Tilly.

Peter Bell

Peter Bell

Veterinarian

Pete graduated from University in England in 2018 and worked in Wales for a mixed practice for three years before he moved to Australia in 2021. Since then, he has been a part of the Greencross Vets family.

He has a particular interest in medicine and is always keen to help nurses wherever possible. Pete’s 12 month goal is to complete a long distance running half marathon in every Capital city in Australia.

Megan joined the Greencross team in September of 2021 shortly after completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2020.
She has always been around a wide range of animals from a young age and loves anything from wildlife to farm animals. Megan is very passionate about medical nursing and patient care while in hospital.

At home, she has two guinea pigs and chickens at home.

Veterinarian

Brett started with our team over two decades ago, so he will certainly feel like a familiar face for your pets and is a valued and respected member of our team. He has veterinarian memberships in surgery and has a special interest in orthopaedic surgery.

Away from the clinic, Brett lives with his wife, two children, two cavaliers, Tilly and Frankie.

Lauren was born and bred in the UK and graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2018. After working as a small animal vet in England for three years, she moved to Wollongong in early 2021 and started to work at Greencross Vets. Lauren enjoys all aspects of clinical practice, especially internal medicine and diagnostic imaging and has recently gained a foundation certificate in ECC (Emergency and Critical Care). Outside of work Lauren likes to lead a relatively active lifestyle so can be found running, hiking, playing touch or practicing yoga

Julia has been a vet nurse since 2018 and joined our Greencross team in 2020. She loves caring for all animals and has a particular fondness for Golden Retrievers. At home, Julia is pet parent to a beautiful flock of chickens and a cheeky tabby cat, called Tia

Veterinarian
Alex graduated with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science in her home country of Canada before moving to Sydney in 2011 to study Veterinary Science. She graduated from the University of Sydney in 2015 and has been working in various small animal clinics in both QLD and NSW. She moved to Wollongong in 2019 with her partner Michael and their two cats. Alex has interests in surgery and dentistry. In her free time she loves spending time outdoors, cooking, watching sports and hanging out with her cats.

Sarah Walsh

Trainee Veterinary Nurse

Sarah has been with our team for over four years and has her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing. She loves all animals that come into the hospital but has a keen interest in wildlife and exotics. Professionally, Sarah enjoys all aspects of nursing but is particularly interested in pathology and medical nursing. Sarah enjoys and is always open to every opportunity to further develop her skills.

At home, Sarah lives with her super cute border collie, Beau.

Dr Luke Michel

Veterinary Director

Luke grew up in Southern Sydney and studied Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney where he graduated with first class honours in 2003 and then took his first job at the Wollongong Veterinary Hospital. In 2011, he became part owner and Veterinary Director for Greencross Vets Fairy Meadow. He is also part of the Vet Advisory Board for Greencross Vets that has over 100 Veterinary hospitals Australia wide.

Luke has a special interest in Small Animal Medicine and has completed further education and qualifications in this area with the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. He’s also completed his Certificate IV in Training, Assessment and Education and has his Diploma of Management. Luke lives in Wollongong with his wife Karli and three daughters – Olivia, Molly and Emily, sweet little Rey, his foxy X and his cat Henry who is his only male support in the house. He enjoys playing, watching and talking about sport, especially AFL, Soccer and Cricket and is trying to brainwash his girls into following them as well.

Julie graduated from Queensland University, and has worked in many practices both large and small, in Queensland, Victoria, ACT and NSW. She has been in Wollongong since 1997, and enjoys internal medicine cases.She has 2 adult children, a scientist husband  who exercises a lot , and a young Irish Wolfhound Cuinn. She swims regularly and walks a lot!

Nikki graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Since graduating, Nikki has worked in mixed practices in rural Victoria and the Illawarra area before joining the Greencross team in 2017.

Nikki loves all aspects of veterinary medicine, but particularly enjoys small animal surgery and wildlife medicine. She lives at home with her partner who is also a vet, their cat Mr Moustachio, and their dog, a Catahoula called Angus. Outside of her work as a vet, Nikki loves running and exploring the great outdoors.

Dr Rosie is one of our Veterinary Directors here at the clinic who grew up in Wollongong. She went to The University of Sydney where she gained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree and moved back to her home town after graduating. Dr Rosie, enjoys many aspects of small animal medicine and diagnostic imaging. When not at the clinic you’ll find Dr Rosie in the outdoors, walking, running, riding her bike or inside baking.

Brodie joined our Greencross Vets team in March 2018, completing her Vet Nursing Certificate IV in 2017 at Kurri Kurri Tafe. Brodie relocated to the Wollongong area from Newcastle with her partner Harry & her two Pointers, Reuben & Kora. After having a passion and love for animals from a young age she knew that being a vet nurse is what she always wanted to do.

Jessica Green

Jessica Green

Jess has a role as Head Nurse at Fairy Meadow and has been nursing since 2011. She started out as a volunteer and has now taken on the role of training our new nursing students.

Jess loves dogs and has a soft spot for Cavaliers. Her favorite part of Vet Nursing is taking care of hospital patients and critical care cases. She like to help taking x-rays and running pathology.

Practice Manager

Lauren has been our Practice manager here at Greencross Fairy Meadow and Woonona-Bulli since 2018, she holds a Certificate IV Qualified Nurse and has been working in the veterinary industry for two decades.
At home, Lauren has a German shepherd named Bruce, two domestic short haired cats, Harry and Luna and a Ringneck parrot named Ringo. She also has two human babies named Scarlett and Spencer. Lauren loves hanging out with her pets and family when she is not managing our clinics.

Rebecca Robey

Rebecca Robey

Dr Rebecca Robey BVSc (Hons I), BSc (Zoology)/BA (Indonesian) has been working at Greencross Fairy Meadow since 2015, but has been in the veterinary industry for over 20 years! Rebecca has a strong interest in emergency medicine, surgery and ultrasonography having completed continuing education courses in each field. Dr. Robey is also very passionate and experienced in treating wildlife and unusual pets and can occasionally be found working as a veterinarian at Taronga Zoo. Rebecca enjoys looking after all creatures great and small from dogs and cats to rabbits, rodents and reptiles! During her precious spare time, Beck enjoys the beach with her 2 and 4 legged family. She is also passionately involved with charities in Australia including WIRES and AMRRIC, as well as helping endangered wildlife in Borneo and volunteering overseas with Vets-Beyond-Borders.

Bec has been a Vet Nurse for 7 years and is a Head Nurse at our Fairy Meadow clinic. She lives local with her husband Dan, daughter Aria and two kitties Jazz and Hudson. Medical cases interest Bec the most, and she is passionate about supporting the team, and encouraging them to learn new skills and expand their nursing knowledge

She believes this profession is perfect for her as she has always had a passion for animals and adores the fact she gets to nurture animals each day. At home April is a pet parent to a Labrador named Fury at home, as well as four cats.

Denzie has worked at Greencross Vet for a decade, her passion is exotic animals and native wildlife. Denzie enjoys meeting and helping puppy owners and their families through the excitement and stress of owning a new puppy. Her fur family consists of three dogs, Stella, Digger & Rodney, three cats, Mes, Darnell and Cybal, a lorikeet named Stavross and two ducks, Dudley and Elwood.

Dione joined our Greencross Team in 2010. She has a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and went on to complete her certificate in Advanced Small Animal Nursing. Professionally, she has an interest in pathology, is extremely passionate about inpatient care and is a feline friendly advocate.

Sandy has been a vet for over 20 year, working in small animal practices in Australia and the UK. She enjoys many aspects of veterinary work, especially surgery. In her spare time, Sandy loves spending time with her family and playing music.

Dr Kevin

Veterinarian

Kevin joined our team at Greencross Fairy Meadow and Warilla in 2019 and is a familiar face around the Illawarra after being a vet here for almost two decades years. He has a keen interest in cat medicine, but loves all aspects of being a Veterinary surgeon.

Kevin shares his house hold with his patient wife, two wonderful kids, and two dogs. When not having fun with his day job, Kevin likes to spend his time fishing out on the lake.

Ashley graduated in the UK in 2011 and has recently come to work at Green Cross Vets. Back in the UK he had snakes, rabbits, fish and a cat. He has a particular interest in soft tissue surgery as well as an in exotic and pocket pets. In his own time he is a keen photographer.

Veterinarian

Joe grew up in New Zealand and graduated from Massey University in 2011. Since then, he has worked in New Zealand and the UK before making his big move to the Gong. Joe is interested in all aspects of dogs and cats health.

When he is not caring for animals, he loves to watch sport and play a bit of golf.
