Lanita K

Lanita K

Lanita has always been surrounded by animals, which sparked a passion for veterinary care from a young age. Growing up, she witnessed firsthand the joy and bond animals bring into our lives, and knew she wanted to be part of a profession that allowed her to help them when they were in need.

Lanita joined Greencross in 2023, starting the veterinary nurse internship program at the Nerang clinic. This opportunity allowed her to pursue the Certificate II in Animal Care, which was successfully completed during her time at Nerang. In November 2024, Lanita made the move to the Helensvale Square clinic to further her education and start the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Lanita is especially interested in Surgical Nursing and Phlebotomy and is excited to continue gaining experience and skills in these areas to provide the best care for all her patients.

Outside of work, Lanita shares her home with two beautiful cats: Misty, a Norwegian Forest Cat Cross, and Juniper, a Ragdoll Cross. In her free time Lanita is often reading or playing video games with her two fluffy supervisors or is out at the gym or the beach enjoying the sun.

Chanda G

Chanda G

Chanda is a passionate and dedicated Veterinary Nurse at Greencross Helensvale Square, holding a Certificate III in Animal Studies and a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Originally from southern New South Wales, her deep-rooted love for animals began early, growing up surrounded by dogs, cats, horses, and chickens. With a natural connection to animals, she spent much of her childhood horse riding and caring for a wide range of pets. Whether it was nursing baby kangaroos and ducklings back to health with her dad or simply spending time with the family’s pets, that lifelong exposure and hands-on experience inspired her to pursue a career as a veterinary nurse.

After completing her studies at TAFE in January where she gained hands-on experience through placements at clinics in VetLove Helensvale and PETstock Robina, Chanda joined Greencross in February 2024. Now thriving in her role, she especially enjoys surgical nursing, monitoring anaesthesia, and interpreting diagnostics. With plans to study veterinary science in the future, she is committed to ongoing learning and professional growth.

Outside of work, Chanda lives with Artemis, a food obsessed grey kitty, and Azula, her Doberman puppy. She is actively involved in Azula’s training in obedience, protection, and bite work, with a personal goal of developing her into a reliable deterrent and protector, providing a strong sense of security. Chanda also enjoys many different forms of art, including painting, origami, and playing violin, having completed Grade 5 through AMEB. Her compassion, enthusiasm, and drive make her a valued member of the Greencross team.

A native of Sri Lanka, Dr. Balasooriya’s journey into veterinary medicine was inspired by her childhood fascination with animals.
