Desexing

Getting your pet desexed (neutered or spayed) is essential to their health. All Greencross Vets facilities are completely sterile and use the latest in surgical equipment.

Vaccinations

Prevention is the best medicine. Kitten and puppy vaccinations (injections) and adult pet vaccinations prevent disease. Get your pet’s vaccinations up-to-date.

Heartworm Prevention

Heartworm can be hard to detect, but it needn’t be hard to prevent. Greencross Vets recommends year round heartworm prevention. Ask your vet about prevention today.

Dentistry

Greencross Vets offer a range of dentistry services like cat and dog teeth cleaning. Consider us your pet’s veterinarian and dentist combined.

Puppy Pre-School

Meet The Team

Dr. Huong Wright

Dr. Huong Wright

Dr. Huong Wright, a 2009 graduate of Melbourne University, brings over 15 years of dedicated veterinary experience to her practice. After starting her career in mixed practice, she found her true passion in small animal care, where she has excelled for the past 13 years. Dr. Wright has a wide range of interests, including arthritis management in geriatric animals and animal behavior, with a particular love for performing soft tissue surgery. Her unwavering commitment is to provide exceptional care for animal patients and the best advice for their owners.
Beyond the clinic, Dr. Wright enjoys crafting, baking, and traveling. She treasures time with her family in Eltham, which includes her husband, their three young boys, an Irish Setter named ‘Cahira’, and a domestic shorthair called ‘Calvin.’

Mari Turner

Mari Turner

Veterinary Nurse

Mari joined Greencross Vets in 2021 to complete an internship and Certificate II in Animal Studies. She enjoyed it so much that she is now pursuing a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. She loves learning and caring for both people and animals. She particularly loves cats, including her grey tabby named Zuko. Mari enjoys cycling, growing vegetables, painting, reading and trying new ice cream flavours.

Veterinarian

Amy graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2010 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. She has been a member of the Greencross family since 2013, working both permanently for several years, then casually across many of the Greencross clinics around Melbourne. After settling down and moving to Hurstbridge, she has become a permanent fixture at the Greencross Vets Hurstbridge clinic.

Amy enjoys a mix of both consulting and surgery, as both provide their own unique challenges and fulfilment. She is passionate about educating owners on the importance of dental care, given dental disease is one of the biggest health problems we see in our canine and feline friends. Amy likes all small animals, however she is definitely more of a cat person, and has a soft spot for Staffordshire Bull Terriers.

Maureen Anderson

Maureen Anderson

Veterinarian

Maureen Anderson grew up in a beautiful country in Africa called Namibia and studied at the University of Pretoria, Onderstepoort. After graduation she moved to England and worked there for many years, gaining experience with dogs, cats, bunnies and small pocket pets. In 2008 she came to Australia with her then fiancé to backpack and locum around the country for a year, seeing many beautiful places and deciding to emigrate here.
She joined the Greencross group in 2021 and is enjoying juggling part time veterinary work with full time mum of young children. Maureen has a special interest in all things to do with soft tissue, including surgery, and is looking at starting her diploma to become an animal biomechanical professional in the near future. This would open up the world of osteopathy and chiropractic science for animals.

Amy Hitchins

Veterinarian

Amy started with Greencross Hurstbridge in 2022. She graduated from Melbourne University in 2018 and headed straight into clinical practice. Amy grew up locally in Eltham and has always loved Hurstbridge and surrounds. She completed year 12 at Eltham High School and was awarded her Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary BioScience at La Trobe University before she was accepted into the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.

Her interests include soft tissue surgery and diagnostic imaging. She has completed further education in small animal ultrasonography, emergency medicine and ophthalmology.

Kaitlyn Sammut

Veterinary Nurse

Kaitlyn began her time at Greencross in August 2022 and since then has been working casually between four separate clinics. She has had a love for animals of all shapes and sizes since she was a young girl and grew up surrounded by dogs, birds, fish and insects.

Kaitlyn plans to move to a permanent role and will soon be commencing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. She takes pride in her ability to communicate with clients in stressful and high-pressure circumstances and is passionate about animal rescue and recovery.

In her home life, Kaitlyn lives with two very cheeky rescue cats, Nardo and Beanie, and has a love for all things hands-on including cooking, fishing, camping and arts and craft.

Mikayla Aleksovski

Veterinary Nurse

Mikayla has grown up with animals her whole life, ranging from dogs and cats to ducks and turtles. She has always had a love for animals and has grown up very close to the vet nursing field. She began working for Greencross Vet in 2022 and has loved it since. She is passionate about patient welfare, as well as delivering fantastic customer service.

Mikayla is currently studying a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Human Resource Management, and aims to work in HR in the future. In her free time, Mikayla loves to cook, make candles, and spend time with family and friends. She loves her German shepherd, Hachi, and Jack Russell x Beagle, Alvin. She hopes to adopt more pets in the future.

Shona Thom

Shona Thom

Shona is just beginning her vet nursing career and is currently undergoing studies in certificate IV. Despite being new to the industry, Shona has shown great dedication to not only our furry companions but also our native wildlife, through her volunteer work as a wildlife rescuer and career.

Shona is looking forward to the challenge of being the best vet nurse she can be.

Rachael Rodrigues

Rachael Rodrigues

Rachael graduated from the University of Melbourne and has been with Greencross since 2016. She joined the team at Hurstbridge in 2018 and has enjoyed getting to know the clients and all their wonderful pets. She has a special interest in behavioral medicine, and particularly enjoys surgery. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and music, and is an active member in her local choir. She has two cats, fish and a dog. Her dog, Oliver, can frequently be found behind the reception desk at the clinic greeting clients with a friendly smile!

Karina Boyle

Karina Boyle

Karina has been a member of Greencross Vets since 2007, and attained her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2009.

Karina has a special interest in radiology and loves looking at the fine images produced by our digital x-ray machine. Karina also enjoys working at reception and interacting with all our clients and patients. She ensures that all of our patients get everything they need with no exceptions. She loves knowing that we make a difference in the health of all patients under our care and is always helpful with advice and information.

Karina’s family includes husband Steven, son Riley, Daughter Kaylee and Brittany Spaniel Loki, who is full of beans.

Karina enjoys swimming, gardening and going camping with family.
