We have been servicing small companion animals and farm animals in the Strathalbyn and surrounding communities for nearly 40 years. Desexing

Getting your pet desexed (neutered or spayed) is essential to their health. All Greencross Vets facilities are completely sterile and use the latest in surgical equipment.

Vaccinations

Prevention is the best medicine. Kitten and puppy vaccinations (injections) and adult pet vaccinations prevent disease. Get your pet’s vaccinations up-to-date.

Heartworm Prevention

Heartworm can be hard to detect, but it needn’t be hard to prevent. Greencross Vets recommends year round heartworm prevention. Ask your vet about prevention today.

Dentistry

Greencross Vets offer a range of dentistry services like cat and dog teeth cleaning. Consider us your pet’s veterinarian and dentist combined.

Puppy Pre-School

Greencross Vets Puppy School is an excellent starting point for owners wanting a well-managed and socialised pet. Courses run for four to six weeks. Click to learn more.

Ultrasound

An ultrasound is a painless diagnostic procedure that allows vets to take a closer look at your pet’s health. We only use the latest technology for the most accurate diagnoses.

X-ray/Radiology

Greencross Vets clinics are equipped with high-quality radiograph equipment including X-ray machines, automatic processors, and X-ray view equipment.

Clinical Pathology

Clinical pathology allows our vets to analyse and diagnose health conditions. Common laboratory tests include blood tests, urinalysis, faecal tests and biopsy examination.

Laboratory Testing

The latest in-house laboratory equipment allows our vets to perform a range of diagnostic tests to achieve accurate, rapid diagnosis of your pets’ health status.

Veterinary Director

Meg is a graduate from the inaugural class of veterinary graduates from the University of Adelaide. After spending time working in mixed animal clinics throughout England, Scotland, New Zealand we finally welcome her back to Strathalbyn soil! Meg loves all animals great or small and has an interest in medicine and imaging.
When Meg is not at work you can often find her exploring the outdoors, walking her dog Lucy in the forest or enjoying the ocean!

Dr. Jess Scriven

Veterinarian

Jessica is a graduate from the University of Adelaide. She has a love for all animals, big and small, and loves the variety of animals and people she gets to meet and help each day working in a mixed country clinic. Jess has a special interest in birds, wildlife, and all things exotic, but also enjoys building special relationships with her canine and feline patients, and will always have a soft spot in her heart for cattle!

Outside of work, you will find Jess getting active in the gym, hiking or finding another way to get outside in the sunshine!

Dr. Lauren Pfitzner

Lauren is a University of Adelaide graduate who was born and raised in the Adelaide Hills. She spent her first couple years after graduation working in the South East, then locumed in the South East and country Victoria before spending a year in a mixed practice just outside of Melbourne treating a diverse range of species. Lauren enjoys the variety mixed practice brings
Outside of work Lauren enjoys a good drop of Adelaide Hills wine, a good book or anything that can be done outdoors- hiking and cycling in particular.

Veterinary Nurse

Kathryn is a newly qualified Certificate IV nurse who started with us through the Greencross nurse internship program. After completing her Certificate II in Animal Studies she went on to graduate her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. She loves walking and has a keen interest in all animals from farm production large animals to small pets.

Dr Nichole Kopp

Veterinary Associate

Nichole is a University of Adelaide graduate who was born and raised in rural South Australia. Coming from the Clare Valley she has a background working with a variety of animals, including farm animals. She considers herself both a cat person AND a dog person, however she always makes extra time to cuddle the cute kittens that come through the doors! She has a special interest in feline medicine and enjoys finding different ways to work with our feline friends in a low stress way.

During her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her own animals at her home in the beautiful Adelaide Hills. When it’s too cold outside to be out riding her horse, Poppy, you may also find her baking or sewing! She is looking forward to developing lasting relationships with our clients at Noarlunga.

Dr Jerome Kalvas

Dr Jerome Kalvas

Jerome started here at Strathalbyn when he first completed his vet science degree and has remained doing two days a week with us and some afterhours. He enjoys his time here getting out to see the large animals calls, particularly the cattle work. Jerome has a keen interest in all exotic animals and wildlife and we get to see lots of photos of the animals from his work at Monarto Zoo. Jerome enjoys all aspects of photography in his spare time, and he and his wife are kept busy with their beautiful daughter.

Dr Ross Lockwood

Dr Ross Lockwood

Ross is our senior vet and has been with the Strathalbyn Vet Clinic for 20 years now. He has over 25 years experience including some time as a flying vet in the Northern Territory, large animal practice in NSW and mixed dairy practice in Northern Victoria. He has a keen interest in small animal medicine and dermatology and has completed post graduate training in small animal internal medicine, dermatology, feline medicine, small animal endocrinology and emergency medicine. His other interests include gardening, reading, squash and hiking.

Kaya Moyse

Kaya Moyse

Kaya is a qualified vet nurse and has worked in the industry for 18years with large and small animals. She loves helping and caring for all the wonderful pets and really enjoys the ever changing needs that present in the vet clinic. Her special interests are dentistry and reptiles. At home she has 11 cats, 3 horses, goanna, birds, her crazy dog “Lily” and her two teenage sons Ben and Tim. In her free time Kaya enjoys trail riding on her great horses.

Head Veterinary Nurse and Puppy School Educator

Kerri has worked as a veterinary nurse for over a decade and has completed Certificate II in Animal Studies; Certificate IV in racing and Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing, with a special interest in behaviour, training and teaching puppy school. She joined the Greencross team at Strathalbyn in September 2014 after a short break to start a family. Outside of work, she spends much of her time enjoying family life on the their farm with horses, sheep and the 2 dogs Pearl and Lilly the Tenterfield Terriers.

Veterinary Nurse

Mardi is one of our valued, fully qualified Certificate IV vet nurses and this Greencross Vets clinic. She grew up on her family farm in a small country town called Peake. Over the years she had many pets including dogs, cats, rats, kangaroos, sheep, horses, cows, magpies, chickens and goats. She also studied Ecotourism at Flinders University and enjoys sharing many outdoor activities with her husband and two children. She has 5 fur babies: Codie, the border collie, Luna and Mercury, the rescue cats and 2 spoiled rat boys called Luke and Bert.

Nikki Gordon

Nikki Gordon

Veterinary Nurse

Nikki has worked in the veterinary industry since 2002, working in Riverland before joining us at Strathalbyn in 2015. She brings a wealth of experience to our team, having completed a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2021. Outside of work Nikki is kept busy with her two kids, Great Dane Ella, Kelpie Reiko, and their large team of show horses. On the weekends you will Nikki at horse shows, at the stables with racehorses or marketing/making her handmade browbands and other show accessories.
