She also has a mischievous Ragdoll cat called Leroy and a silver tabby called Misty. Her animal family is completed by and five friendly sheep and a mischievous possum called Billy.

Dr Carol Mayes
Dr Carol Mayes
Carol graduated from Massey University in New Zealand in 1999. Carols first Veterinary position was in the Riverland where she was exposed to a wide range of animals from horses to livestock, cats and wildlife. She then went to the UK to practice as a small animal vet for three years. She decided to move back to Adelaide with husband Matt and after locuming in various practices, decided that the Hills lifestyle and the small friendly veterinary clinic here suited both her and her family.
Carol and Matt have two boys. Finn and Austin. Their family is completed by Circe the whippet and Billy the cat.
We are proud to say Carol and worked at the clinic since 2006. As a Veterinary Director standards of care, up-to-date training and equipment are a constant focus. A strong desire to look after our local community and loyal clients creates a brilliant workplace and productive team to deliver best patient care.
Medicine and surgery are a keen interest and she certainly enjoys watching puppies and kittens that she has vaccinated at the start, grow into wonderful family pets. Your pets are part of our family too at Greencross Wellington Road.

Growing up in Crafers in the Adelaide hills, Karen was never really allowed pets, but loved animals and started working in wildlife parks when she was only 15. She continued her work with wildlife until when she decided to try a career in the veterinary industry. Karen has been lucky enough to work with many different species including birds, reptiles, and some cool mammals such as koalas, dingos and Tasmanian devils. In her one-year stint at the zoo, she had in her charge a couple of hippos, otters, giraffe, brown bears and beavers. Her knowledge and passion for native and exotic animals is valued here at Greencross Wellington Road.
Karen’s spare time is mostly spent with her dogs and big cuddly cat Ranga She is a registered breeder of Australian Shepherds, which she competes in the show-ring as well as in obedience and agility. Her wildlife companions, including lizards, a python, chooks, squirrel gliders, possums, a cockatoo, galah, cockatiel and budgies, complete her animal family. Karen has completed many behaviour and skills courses through Greencross and is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers Australia. Her special interest is puppy development and conditioning and she will work hard to keep your pets anxious free and comfortable when visiting us.
