Clinical & Professional Excellence

Stress Free Pets

Focusing on best practice, the Stress Free Pets program is developed and delivered in collaboration with Vet Behaviour Specialists and internationally recognised experts. Stress Free Pets is an animal handling and behaviour education program designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to deliver patient care that minimises stress in the clinical environment. Providing a calmer experience allows for easier diagnosis, treatment and for you to provide the best possible care to your patients.

GP Clinic Accreditation Program

Our bespoke and individualised accreditation process formally recognises clinics for the exceptional quality of care they provide to our patients. This accreditation reassures our clients that they can expect the safest and highest level of clinical care at any Greencross location they visit. Driven by the team leaders, the self-audit process is completed every year, with a post-audit visit from a Regional Clinical Director and Area Manager every second year. The program empowers our teams to excel in areas such as anaesthesia, pain management, surgery, dentistry and continuing education.

Clinical Research

We are committed to clinical excellence and providing evidence-based treatments to all our patients. As one of the largest veterinary clinic groups in Australia and New Zealand and a leader in clinical care, we partner with researchers and universities to provide meaningful contributions to the advancement of veterinary medicine. Many Greencross Vets clinics actively participate in clinical trials.

Learning & Career Development

Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) Membership

The AVA is Australia’s professional organisation representing veterinarians, and offers a range of support, education and events for clinicians. Greencross is a platinum sponsor of the AVA and offers AVA membership for our vets and interested Practice Managers.

National Clinical Symposium & Vet Programs

Unfortunately this year the event has been postponed due to Covid-19, we will update you as soon as more information is available.
One of the biggest clinical events in the veterinary calendar, the annual Greencross Vets National Clinical Symposium is a national gathering, with more than 1,000 delegates attending from Australia and New Zealand. Part of Greencross Vets’ commitment to the continued development of our team members, the symposium is always thought provoking, educational and enjoyable. Attendees access industry-leading content that covers clinical veterinary and nursing, practice and business management, emergency and critical care, as well as a large tradeshow.

Access to online

To further help our vets to stay up to date with education, medical advancements, resources and trends, we offer access to external online resource providers including:

● ViN
● Elsevier
● Wiley
● VetFolio
● Vetstream

Graduate program

We offer an industry-leading structured graduate program, as well as sponsorship for membership and residency training.

Leadership Intelligence Program

With a network of more than 150 veterinary clinics, we recognise the importance of providing a career pathway for all our team members. This program encourages the development of our team not just as clinicians, but also as leaders. Involving online study and coaching, this is just one of the ways that we continue to develop our senior staff and reward our team.

Wellbeing, Work/Life Balance & Agile Working

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The Employee Assistance Program provides all team members and their immediate family with access to 24/7 counselling. Team members can receive support for both work and non-work related issues. The EAP also provides access to a range of other benefits including health calculators and tobacco cessation plans.

Mental Health First Aiders

We are proud to be recognised by Mental Health First Aid Australia as a Gold Level Skilled Workplace. This acknowledges our achievements in developing Mental Health First Aid skills within our team and embedding a sustainable and effective program. We are committed to making sure our team is supported with any issue, big or
small. Our Mental Health First Aid Officers are trained to proactively support mental health issues at work.

Back to Work Program

Our Back to Work Program is designed to support you as you return to clinical work after an extended break, such as parental leave. This self-guided online program will equip you with the skills and knowledge to make your return to clinical work as seamless as possible.

Giving Back to the Community

The Petbarn Foundation

The Petbarn Foundation was established in 2012 with a mission to help pet-related charities and welfare organisations care for animals in need.
Since then, the Foundation has raised over $13 million, providing hundreds of small and large charities across Australia with financial support. In the wake of the Australian Bushfire disaster in 2020, the Petbarn Foundation distributed over $1.2 million in funds, products and services for those directly affected by the fires including a $75,000 donation to Vets Beyond Borders and delivering over $100,000 of pet food to rural areas.

In six years, the Foundation raised $3 million for Seeing Eye Dogs Australia, to provide training for 60 service dogs. Through the Foundation’s partnership with the RSPCA and other rescue organisations, more than 47,000 pets have been rehomed with 100% of adoption fees returned to the partners.

Employee Volunteer Program

Every year we offer team members the opportunity to get their hands dirty and participate in subsidised animal welfare volunteer programs both within Australia and internationally with partners including the RSPCA, and Vets Beyond Borders. In recent years our volunteer program has organized for a team to volunteer in Port Moresby, PNG and also Sikkim in India.
