Feline wellness health checks
Greencross Vets recommend two wellness health checks per year to ensure your pet is in top shape.
During this visit, your veterinarian will carry out a thorough physical examination to check for any pre-existing or developing conditions. We want to help your cat live their best life. Our teams are happy to answer and address any concerns relating to teeth, weight, behaviour, skin or any other issues your trusted feline companion may have. Early detection and treatment of lumps, as an example, is easier when they are small compared to when they become larger and potentially more difficult to treat.
Tests like blood or urine tests may be required to provide us with vital information on your pet’s organ function. If changes are detected in the body or your pet’s health status, we will tailor a preventive treatment plan. Hyperthyroidism (over-active thyroid), for example, is more common in cats over ten years of age and can be diagnosed with a blood test. A health check may detect irregular heart sounds or joint issues like arthritis, these are very common in cats as they age.
The early detection of disease and ill-health means early intervention and hence deciding on the best and most appropriate treatment plan possible. This is especially important as our pets start to age. Regular health checks with Greencross Vets encourage a healthy life for your feline friend.
During your visit with us, there will be time to discuss any other health care matters that are of concern. Some of them are listed below:
- Diet and nutrition
- Heart and kidney health
- Intestinal worming
- Flea and tick prevention
- Skin care
- Dental health
